Man's best friend: the dog. Man and dog share a bond as old as time - a bond that has been immortalized through print, celluloid, music and art.
If you are here, you obviously love our four-legged buddies as much as we do. So, why not be a part of the National Dog Day celebrations. Tell us why you love your pooch and send us a candid shot, a poem or a few lines celebrating the bond that you two share. Use the hashtag #NationalDogDay and tell us what makes the bond between you and your pooch special by leaving a message at Pets Happy Zone on Facebook, Twitter (@PetsHappyZone) or in the comment section below.
Apparently, Google isn't celebrating...
...but that shouldn't stop you.
National Dog Day was started in 2004 by celebrity pet and family lifestyle expert and animal behaviorist Colleen Paige "to show our deep appreciation for the historical connection of companionship with one another - for their endearing patience, unquestioning loyalty, for their work protecting our streets, homes and families as Police K-9s, military working dogs, guide dogs and therapy dogs," reports the Daily Independent.
Paige's website can give you ideas of ways to celebrate this special day with your buddy.
So what are you waiting for? Get set to shake a leg and wag a tail!
Happy National Dog Day!
