When news broke that Lady Gaga would be joining the cast of "American Horror Story," some people wondered how this hadn't been done already, because let's face it, she's pretty much perfect for the show. While we got a sneak peek at her character on set just a few days ago, the full and exciting details on her "AHS: Hotel" role have finally been revealed.
The Countess is a bloodthirsty, sex-loving, socialite and hotel owner who is "glamorous but deadly," according to Entertainment Weekly. Gaga's character will wear a fashionable, but sharp, chain mail glove which she uses to kill people. While her love for blood isn't exactly "vampirism," the show's producer Ryan Murphy likes to think of it as an "ancient blood virus" which is basically "a form of hemophilia, in a way."
"She's extremely strong," Gaga explained. "She's been through so much. It's kind of impossible for anything to penetrate her."
Gaga graces the cover of the newest issue of Entertainment Weekly, giving us our first real look at The Countess. In the cover photo, she's covered in blood, showing off her sharp glove, all while still looking completely fabulous. She fits the part just right, and it didn't even take much to get her to join the cast as what's pretty much the perfect role for her. In fact, it was completely her idea. Gaga took it upon herself to call Murphy and tell him just how big of an "AHS" fan she was, especially after "Freak Show."
"I called him and I said, 'Ryan, I wanna be on Horror Story,'" Gaga revealed. "And he goes, 'OK.' And that was it."
From her crazy fashion, to her hit songs, to her perfect horror-show vibe, Gaga is excited to bring on some more fans than just her Little Monsters.
"I've just been weeping while I'm here because I have returned to something I've believed in so much, which is the art of darkness," she said. "It's not something that everyone understands but, for the people that do - 'Horror Story' fans, my fans - there is a true connection between us, and it's a language within itself."
Gaga has already been portraying her own personal fandom for the show ever since filming started. "Thoughts on first day shooting AHS?" she tweeted. "I say, I've died and gone to my personal heaven."
Murphy couldn't be happier to have her on board for the new season, either. "Everybody who does the show has to start with something disturbing and awful right away," he said, according to The Los Angeles Times. "And I think the first two days [Lady Gaga] has a pretty spectacular murder scene to shoot with Matt Bomer. And I'm glad that she had Matt. Because she's so great and they've all socialized...I can't say enough great things about her."
"American Horror Story: Hotel" premiers on FX on Oct. 7.
