'Mr. Robot' Finale: USA Postpones Season Finale In Wake Of Virginia TV News Crew Shooting

The USA network postponed the season finale of its hit TV series "Mr. Robot" in wake of the Virginia news crew shooting that left two dead, reported the Hollywood Reporter. A statement posted to USA's website cited a plot similarity in the finale that echoed the tragic event.

"The previously filmed season finale of 'Mr. Robot' contains a graphic scene similar in nature to today's tragic events in Virginia," said USA's statement. "Out of respect to the victims, their families and colleagues, and our viewers, we are postponing tonight's episode. Our thoughts go out to all those affected during this difficult time."

The episode was scheduled to air Wednesday night, just hours after Vester Lee Flanagan shot and killed TV news reporter Alison Parker, 24, and cameraman Adam Ward, 27, as previously reported by HNGN. Flanagan, a disgruntled former employee at the Virginia CBS affiliate WDBJ7, opened fire during a live broadcast Wednesday morning.

USA's hit summer series "Mr. Robot" follows main character Elliot Alderson (Rami Malek), a computer hacker hired by an anarchist to expose corporate corruption in America, according to Variety.

A particular scene slated for the season finale depicts a character suffering a fatal gunshot wound while being interviewed on TV, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The episode will be postponed until next Wednesday, Sept. 2, at 10 p.m.
