Emmy Rossum and Sam Esmail are engaged! The 37-year-old writer/director proposed to the 28-year-old "Shameless" star this past weekend in Los Angeles, according to People.
They have been dating for two years and met on the set of his film "Comet," which Rossum starred in alongside Justin Long, according to Us Weekly. They made their first public appearance as a couple in June of last year at the premiere. Esmail has recently been working on his TV show "Mr. Robot."
"I don't gravitate to the jock; it's the nerdy guy in the corner," Rossum confessed to Cosmopolitan last year. "I'm datng a writer now. Writers are sexy."
Rossum was previously married to music executive Justin Siegel for a year and a half before the two split in December 2010. She knew she wanted to walk down the aisle again, though, and now she'll get her chance.
"I hope I do," she revealed. "Honestly, I was so young, I don't think I knew what marriage meant. My parents were never married, and I was teased in school and called a bastard. So the idea of marriage as safety forever was idealized in my head, and we rushed into it."
Congrats to the happy couple!
