A salmon spawned on President Obama during his three-day visit to Alaska this week as part of an effort to highlight the effects of climate change and reach out to the Alaska Native population.
During the trip Obama visited a group of local fisherman and families at Kanakanak Beach in Dillingham, Alaska.
While with the group, Obama put on a pair of orange gloves to examine some of the fish nets, reported Business Insider. Upon doing so he picked up one salmon, saying, "That's a nice-looking fish right there."
However the second he held began squirting a stream of liquid prompting him to ask the woman standing nearby what was going on.
"Uh-oh, what's happening there?" he asked.
The woman then explained to him that the salmon was spawning, according to CNN.
Obama then called over to the press, "Did you see that? Something got on my shoes. He was spawning a little bit, which, generally you don't want fish spawning on your feet."
He then relayed a message from one of the women who was showing him the fish nets, according to CBS News.
"She said he was happy to see me," he said.
Later, he allegedly asked a for a knife from a few of his Secret Service agents, so that he could help fillet the fish that had been caught. They didn't have one.
