A very familiar face to "The Biggest Loser" fans will be taking over the hosting duties after Alison Sweeney announced her departure from the show. Bob Harper, who served as a trainer on the NBC weight loss program since 2004, was announced as the upcoming host for the 17th season.
"I'm super excited about taking the position of host on 'The Biggest Loser,'" Harper, 50, told People magazine. "I know all of the ins and outs. And let me tell you, the weigh-in room is going to be a completely different ball game with me at the steering wheel."
Although his role will be a little different this season, Harper said he will still continue to offer his training expertise to contestants at various points throughout the season. He also planned to still guide the contestants through all weigh-ins, challenges and temptations, reported the Hollywood Reporter.
The news came after longtime host Sweeney announced her departure last month. The former "Days of Our Lives" actress has hosted the show since season 4 in 2007.
"After an incredible run together, Alison Sweeney will not be returning as host of 'The Biggest Loser' next season," the show's producers said in a statement, reported Access Hollywood.
The new season of The Biggest Loser begins production in September.
