An investigator from Lake County has revealed that the three men in the video that was pieced together by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) were not involved in the killing of a Fox Lake police officer last week.
The suspects responsible for the death of Fox Lake Police Department Officer Charles Joseph Gliniewicz, 52, have been described as one black and two white men, Reuters reported.
Gliniewicz was shot and killed in the village of Fox Lake, which took place early morning on Sept. 1. The officer had radioed that he was chasing three suspects, who were doing "suspicious activity," on foot, as HNGN previously reported.
Authorities handling the case found "significant evidence" on Sunday that would help them trace the three suspects, who are still on the run. However, they did not reveal what the evidence was because the investigation is still ongoing.
Meanwhile, Gliniewicz was finally laid to rest on Monday, with several hundred police officers from around the country attending the funeral as well as other residents in the Fox Lake area.
During the funeral procession, many people looked on from the roadside and applauded. Gliniewicz served with the Fox Lake Police Department for more than 30 years and was already nearing the end of his retirement, according to the New York Daily News.
