Homeland Season 3 Spoilers: Saul and Carrie's Relationship Gets Bumpy; What Will Agent Barenson Do?

Heading into the third season of “Homeland” we already know that Carrie will have at least one complicated relationship. She can’t really be with the love of her life Brody (Damien Lewis) at the moment because, you know, he’s a fugitive and the most wanted man in the United States of America.

The other major relationship in Carrie’s life—besides her family—is the one she has with Saul (Mandy Patinkin). According to EOnline that relationship will soon take a turn for the worse.

The website reports that in the second episode of Season 3, Paul will do something “pretty unforgivable.” The act is so devastating that their long standing friendship may irreparable.

Aww man, I like the sort of father/daughter thing they had going. However, this turn of events is not entirely shocking.

At the end of season 2, it was apparent that Saul would be in a tough situation heading into Season 3. He is now Director of the CIA and will most likely have to help in finding Brody. It’s also a safe bet that he will suspect Carrie of helping America’s Most Wanted criminal with his escape—hence the tough situation.

Does he choose helping his long time mentee and not interrogating her on the whereabouts of Brody?

Or does he chose his country and go after Carrie with all he’s got to find Brody? Yikes, I don’t think this is a decision anyone would want to have to make.

“Homeland” returns Sunday, Sept. 29 at 9/8c on Showtime.
