Patrick Carney Of The Black Keys Says Jack White Tried To Fight Him At NYC Bar

The Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney said that Jack White tried to start a fight with him after they ran into each other at a New York City bar. In a series of tweets from the drummer, Carney accused White of "bullying" him even though they had never met.

In a series of now-deleted tweets, Carney said that White and a few friends came into an NYC bar that he was at and tried to assult him. "I don't fight and don't get fighting but he was mad" he wrote, according to Billboard. "He is why I play music. The bully assholes who made me feel like nothing. Music was a private non-competitive thing."

"Not the best drummer, but a passionate one," he continued. "But anyway, Jack White. A 40-year-old bully tried to fight the 35-year-old nerd. It might get loud, but it might also get really really sad and pathetic."

Carney and his Black Keys bandmate Dan Auerbach have been in on-again-off-again feuds with White since 2013, according to Entertainment Weekly. The feud started after emails between White and his ex-wife Karen Elson were leaked. In the emails White reportedly demanded that his children be pulled out of the same school that Auerbach's kids attended and claimed the Black Keys "ripped off" his music.

White responded to the allegations in a statement through his representatives, reported Rolling Stone. "Nobody tried to fight you, Patrick. Nobody touched you or 'bullied' you," White said in the statement. "You were asked a question you couldn't answer, so you walked away. So quit whining to the Internet and speak face to face like a human being. End of story."

Carney has since apologized to White on Twitter. "Talked to jack for an hour he's cool. All good," the drummer wrote.
