Vicki Gunvalson, the OG of Bravo's "Real Housewives of Orange County," is coming to her ex-boyfriend Brooks Ayers' defense after naysayers are still doubting the healthcare salesman's cancer diagnosis, Heavy reported. The former couple is putting up a united front at home and in the media after Gunvalson's "RHOC" co-star, newcomer Meghan King Edmonds, began questioning his diagnosis.
But now Gunvalson's adult children are asking that their mother's former lover take a lie detector test to prove that he's telling the truth about his non-Hodgkin's lymphoma diagnosis, Radar Online reported. Daughter Briana Wolfsmith Culberson and son Michael Wolfsmith demanded that he take the test, but Ayers refused.
"Vicki thinks it's absolutely ridiculous that her kids doubt that Brooks has cancer," the source told Radar Online. "But there has never been any proof provided that Brooks does have it. When her kids asked him to provide proof, Brooks just scoffed at their demand and has refused to take it."
Ayers' unconfirmed cancer diagnosis has been a drama-filled, running storyline on season 10 of "RHOC," as previously reported by HNGN. In a previous episode, the ladies had a session with "RHOC" co-star Tamra Judge's trusted psychic and the psychic said that he didn't see Ayers having cancer.
Gunvalson, 53, and Ayers, 47 called it quits last month after spending four years together, but sources say that the couple plans to rekindle its romance once the reunion episode for season 10 airs.
"Even though Brooks and Vicki are currently broken up, her family believes as soon as the reunion is filmed, they will officially be back together," the source said. "Brooks will be staying with Vicki in the next few weeks as he recently said he would be returning to California to continue treatment."
