Treasure the next two "Avengers" films because you likely won't ever get the same collection of superheroes all together again.
During a Q&A promoting the "Avengers: Age of Ultron" DVD/blu-ray release, producer Jeremy Latcham and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige discussed the Marvel Cinematic Universe and revealed that the Avengers roster could undergo serious changes after "Infinity War."
Latcham was asked if "Infinity War" would act as more of a final chapter in phase three or a direct lead-in to phase four. His response may upset the most die-hard among you.
"It definitely is an end to some version of the team that we've come to know in The Avengers," he said. "Who knows exactly what's gonna happen yet in that film but I think this version of that team, and I think we hit to it at the end of Age of Ultron, that the team will be evolving. And one of the things that we love from the comics is that the roster is always changing. New people are coming onto the team. You can pick up an Avengers book 10 years later and you don't recognize the people on the cover but the ideas and the ideals that make the Avengers the Avengers still exist and I think that's part of what this culmination will be. We're seeing this version of the team doing this thing to save the universe, the galaxy, however you want to put it, and then we'll kind of see where that goes. You know? It's not the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe but I think it's the end of part of it, for sure. We're still trying to sort out which parts."
This shouldn't come as a complete shock to MCU fans. Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Samuel L. Jackson and other Avengers cast members are coming to the close of their Marvel contracts. That makes the team's two-part battle with Thanos, essentially, their swan song. Will they nail it?
"Avengers: Infinity War - Part I & II" are due out in 2018 and 2019, respectively.
