Will Smith marked his return to his musical career and released his first song in more than a decade, Rolling Stone reported. Smith collaborated with electronic music group Bomba Estereo for a new track titled "Fiesta," and the actor/hip hop artist proved he's still got rapping skills.
Smith approached the Latin Grammy-nominated group during his recent trip to Columbia, according to Rolling Stone. Smith was drawn to the group's "electro tropical" sound and lent his voice to the track, rapping in Spanish. A music video for "Fiesta" was shot in Los Angeles recently and will premiere at a later date.
"When I was told that Will Smith wanted to collaborate on a remix with Bomba, I couldn't believe it," Bomba Estereo member Simon Mejia said in a statement obtained by Entertainment Weekly. "This opportunity to work with Will was beyond anything we have dreamed of. ... It's just magic."
The Latin-infused track features a sound similar to Smith's 1997 hit song "Miami."
During his absence from the music world, Smith has been focused primarily on his acting career. Smith's upcoming film, the highly anticipated "Concussion," is scheduled for a Christmas Day release, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
