The Texas Longhorns will travel to Fort Worth, Texas Saturday to face the fourth ranked TCU Horned Frogs. TCU will look to get their fifth win of the season, and keep their college football playoff chances alive. The Longhorns will be looking to turn their season around this Saturday, after losing two close games the past two weeks.
The Longhorns will have a tough test in front of them, as TCU is a likely favorite to make the final four playoff at the end of the season. The Horned Frogs are lead by their senior quarterback Trevone Boykin who has already thrown for 1,470 yards and 14 touchdowns. Boykin is clearly one of the front-runners for the Heisman Trophy this season, and keeping TCU undefeated will only help his chances.
While Boykin may be one of the front-runners for the Heisman, senior wide receiver Josh Doctson is clearly making a name for himself this season and is likely to be a Bilentikoff award finalist. Through four games Doctson has 593 receiving yards and six touchdowns, and he only looks to be improving. Last week against Texas Tech he had 18 catches for 267 yards with three touchdowns.
The Longhorns will likely have to have their offense firing on all cylinders if they want to steal an upset on the road. Last season Texas was crushed by TCU 48-10, and head coach Charlie Strong will likely have his team remembering that before the game. Strong is in his second season at Texas, and young recruits like redshirt freshman quarterback Jerrod Heard will have to play well if they want to get a win.
Heard has confidence that his team can keep up with the Horned Frogs offense, and the their defense will be able to make big stops if necessary. "We can Keep up and match it. I also have full confidence in our defense that we are going to make stops. Not saying that they are going to make all the stops because I know good TCU's offense is. But I feel like they'll have great stops and give us good field position," said Heard, via foxsports.com.
It would be a big upset if the Texas could take down powerhouse TCU, but the Longhorns have been fighting hard this season as they have only lost by a collective four points in the last two games.
