A little Chihuahua may have given cats around the world a run for their money when it comes to their tree-climbing abilities for a brief period, but she may still need to work on getting herself down the ground.
Animal control officers were called in on Sept. 16 to deal with a rather adventurous and mischievous Chihuahua named Petra after she made her way up a 75-foot-tall Italian cypress tree and propping herself up in the branches in Bakersfield, Calif., according to The Dodo.
Fire responders from the Kern County Fire Department arrived on the scene and immediately rescued the pup from her strange predicament, climbing on top of the tree using a ladder, plucking the dog from one of the branches and bring her down to solid ground.
Luckily, the rescuers were able to locate the Chihuahua's owner after the incident. "The dog was released into the custody of the owner, safe and sound," the rescuers wrote on Facebook.
