Blind Chihuahua Gets A Second Chance, 'Let's Fix Them All," Dr. Matt Says

For this tiny chihuahua, the wait was worth it.

Found by good-hearted strangers as he was aimlessly wandering the streets, alone and scared, this little guy was taken in by Vet Ranch Animal Rescue, a nonprofit veterinary clinic run by a vet who goes by Dr. Matt. According to the rescue's webpage, Dr. Matt has dedicated his life to rescuing animals that desperately need help.

While checking the puppy, Dr. Karri, one of the veterinarians at Vet Ranch, noticed that the scared little dog had some kind of untreated infection in his eyes. The infection had gotten so severe that his eyes had sealed completely due to discharge, reports Little Things.

The discharge from the infection had partially blinded the puppy and caused a lot of pain. His corneas suffered from multiple scratches and his body had contracted ticks, which caused the tiny chihuahua severe malnourishment.

As you can see in this YouTube video, however, the little guy pulled through. Though his treatment was intensive due to the gravity of his situation, he was speeding along the road to recovery within a week of being at Vet Ranch.

His eyes, which had caused him much pain, have now been restored, and he is currently on his way to a full recovery. In fact, Vet Ranch states that this sweet little dog is now ready to start his new life with his forever home, where he will be treated with all the love and care that he deserves.
