ABC Family will soon go by the name Freeform to better represent their target audience of "Becomers," those between the ages of 14 and 34 years old who are experiencing the firsts in life - car, apartment, job, love, heartbreak and more.
The rebranding will include its popular series such as "Pretty Little Liars," "The Fosters," "Young & Hungry," and "Baby Daddy" as well as new shows "Shadowhunters" and "Recovery Road."
"Freeform evokes the spirit and adventure of our audience," ABC Family President Tom Ascheim said in a press release. "Freeform will deliver new, exciting original content as well as all the favorite shows our viewers already love on ABC Family."
The name change will take place in January 2016, and the cable network will continue to focus on doubling its original programming over the next four years. New series pick-ups and show returns will be announced later this month.
ABC Family is also asking fans to submit photos and videos that "creatively express the word Freeform in a way that is inspired by their own lives and what they are passionate about." All created content can be uploaded at Freeformfan.com.
ABC Family has evolved from the religious-themed CBN Family Channel and the network will continue to air religious programming like "The 700 Club" after the rebranding, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The network also confirmed Freeform will air the popular marathons "13 Nights of Halloween" and "25 Days of Christmas."
