Three suspects have been arrested by the Department of Public Safety in Arizona for allegedly opening fire at Interstate 10 at around 2:10 a.m. on Sunday.
The DPS, however, revealed that the latest shooting is not connected to the ones that took place just recently.
A passenger had fired one shot from a handgun, which came out of the window of a black sedan, a witness revealed. Shortly thereafter, another shooting happened at I-10, which also involved another black sedan, state troopers said, according to the Associated Press.
The Phoenix police were able to arrest one in an apartment complex after they chased the suspect via helicopter. They also arrested two other suspects and retrieved a bullet from a victim's car as evidence.
On Saturday, a man was also arrested for his involvement in a drive-by shooting near a freeway in Phoenix but again, the shooting was not connected to the ones that took place between August and September.
Christopher Hoffman, 36, opened fire at a vehicle on the Loop 101 freeway in the Phoenix suburb of Peoria, which authorities have branded as a road rage incident, HNGN previously reported.
That same month, Leslie Allen Merritt, 21, was arrested by the Arizona DPS Swat Team at a Walmart in Glendale for a string of sniper shootings at the same interstate and was charged with 16 felony counts in total.
