Rockstar Games recently launched its first venture into the world of online multiplayer with the Oct. 1 release of "Grand Theft Auto Online." The 16 player experience allows users to jump into the city of Los Santos and pull off new missions, steal fast cars or compete in leisure activities like golf or tennis.Thinking about giving it a try over the weekend? Before gamers can experience all of these adventures, they need to first create a character to do them with. There are three main parts to GTA Online character creation and they're each vitally important since they cannot be changed. Below is a rundown of how it works.
According to IGN, the first of the three stages involved in character creation is choosing your Heritage. Many of your characters aspects are defined by genetic heritage. In order to determine that, you literally have to select grandparents and then choose maternal vs paternal tendencies on a slider bar. Leaning the slider toward one side of the family changes yours kin tone and features to more closely resemble genetic markers from the branch's progenitors.
After users have locked down their Heritage, they then have to figure out how to allocate their life stats. They simply need to find a way to use all the hours in a day to boost their stats. For example choosing to sleep for 12 hours will increase Stamina, Strength, Stealth and Lung Capacity but decrease nothing However, it takes up 12 hours. Users could also choose to spend 8 hours partying to increase Shooting and Stealth but find Stamina, Strength, Flying and Lung Capacity diminished. A more complete list of the stats can be found HERE via IGN. Starting users have 24 hours to spend among 12 activities with a minimum of 4 hours for sleeping. These selections affect your starting clothing, your physique and what your character is good at.
Finally, and perhaps most importantly, is the Appearance menu. Here you can customize your hair, age, facial hair, glasses and if you prefer hats. While these sound like the most trivial things in the game, they are important because they are permanent. Stats can increase, Heritage can be forgotten but your appearance is for life, so choose wisely.
