The Florida Gators travel to Baton Rouge, La. to face the LSU Tigers in a SEC Showdown. Both teams sit atop their respective divisions undefeated, and this game could impact who will play in the SEC Championship game.
The Gators are coming off a big win against Missouri and held them to just three points. It has been a difficult week for the Gators, as they lost their starting quarterback for the year in Will Grier after he tested positive for performance enhancing drugs.
The Gators will start quarterback Treon Harris, who already has game experience this season as he started their opener against New Mexico State. Harris has thrown for 269 yards this season with two touchdowns but will face arguably one of the best defenses in college football in the Tigers.
The Gators will look to get running back Kelvin Taylor plenty of touches on Saturday night, as he can open holes for Florida's offense. The junior running back has rushed for 438 yards this season with seven touchdowns. Taylor can be an impact player against the Tigers, and head coach Jim McElwain will likely make sure to get him his opportunities.
While the Gators have a dominant running back, LSU has arguably the best running back in the country in Leonard Fournette. The sophomore running back is the clear frontrunner for the Heisman this season, and he is putting up monster numbers. Fournette has 1,022 rushing yards this season with 12 touchdowns, and he is averaging 8.6 yards per carry. Fournette set an LSU record for being the quickest player to rush for 1,000 yards in the university's history.
Fournette will look to establish the Tigers offense, as their aerial game has struggled this season. Sophomore quarterback Brandon Harris has struggled this season and has only thrown for 610 yards and four touchdowns. On the positive side, the Tigers quarterback seemed to get a rhythm going last week against South Carolina as he threw a season-high 228 yards with two touchdowns. Harris can bring a dual threat as well, and he has rushed for three touchdowns this year.
This Saturday night SEC matchup looks to be one of the best games college football has to offer. The game starts at 7:00 p.m. Eastern time, and you can watch the live broadcast here. To listen to the Tiger's radio broadcast, click here, and for the Gators radio broadcast, go here.
