"Saturday Night Live" alum Tracy Morgan made his return to the late night comedy show after he was severely injured in a car crash 16 months ago. Morgan brought back some of his most well-known characters to "SNL" and even welcomed a couple of special guests!
Morgan opened with a strong monologue that turned into a "30 Rock" reunion when his co-stars Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin, Jane Krakowski and Jack McBrayer all ran out on stage to hug the comedian. Morgan talked about his June 2014 car accident and told the audience how happy he was to be back at "SNL."
"As you can see, everything is going to be just fine," he told the crowd. "I've got my family here, my cast, my crew, and I've got my Obi-Wan Kenobi, [SNL creator] Lorne Michaels. So let's be funny."
Morgan brought back one of his most famous characters from his time on "Saturday Night Live," Brian Fellow. Fellow, "an enthusiastic young man with a sixth-grade education and an abiding love for all God's creatures," interviewed a beaver and a camel, but he showed little interest in either animal as he repeated his signature line, "I'm Brian Fellow" over and over again.
While Morgan was the center of attention and the host of the show, comedian Larry David stole the spotlight during the cold opening in which he impersonated Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders flawlessly. David, the co-creator of "Seinfeld," took on the role of Sanders during the first part of the show, which was dedicated to the first Democratic presidential debate. David was joined on the stage by "Saturday Night Live" cast members Kate McKinnon as Hillary Clinton, Taran Killam as Martin O'Malley, Kyle Mooney as Lincoln Chafee, Jon Rudnitsky as Anderson Cooper and "30 Rock" star Baldwin as Martin O'Malley.
"Saturday Night Live" returns on Nov. 7 with host Donald Trump and musical guest Sia.
