Guess not everyone's on board to fight equal pay.
Jeremy Renner is all for supporting salary equality for women in the film industry, but the actor admits that he isn't into sitting down and negotiating paychecks for acting projects because that's not his responsibly as a performer.
"That's not my job," the actor said when asked if he was willing to help with wage inequality in Hollywood, according to Yahoo. "I don't know contracts and money and all that sort of stuff. I'm a performer and I know human behavior. When it comes to that sort of stuff I let other people deal with that. I do what I'm good at, that's what I focus on."
The 44-year-old actor, who is best known for his role as Hawkeye in the "Avengers" movies, said he prefers to focus on his acting and let the agents and managers handle the salary talks, in an interview with Business Insider.
Renner's comments garnered criticism from users who bashed the actor for not supporting his fellow female actors.
"The context was that he is all for women or anyone having salary equality, but that's someone else's job to handle and not his," his rep told ABC News about his previous comments. "He is most supportive, but doesn't involve himself in those conversations, so when asked, he was basically saying that."
The "Mission Impossible" actor also took to Twitter to address his comments, writing, "SHOW me what you do, I'll stand by your side, only TALK about what you do, I can only listen. #actions #talkischeap #LoveWins."
Renner's comments come shortly after his "American Hustle" costar Jennifer Lawrence penned a powerful essay, "Why Do I Make Less Than My Co-Stars," about salary inequality for women in the industry. Lawrence said she was shocked to learn how much money she made compared to "the lucky people with d---s."
"Jeremy Renner, Christian Bale and Bradley Cooper all fought and succeeded in negotiating powerful deals for themselves," Lawrence wrote. "If anything, I'm sure they were commended for being fierce and tactical, while I was busy worrying about coming across as a brat and not getting my fair share."
The actress received support from actress Jessica Chastain, Emma Watson and her other "American Hustle" co-star, Bradley Cooper.
