The Philadelphia Eagles travel to Bank of America Stadium Sunday night to face the undefeated Carolina Panthers. The Eagles are coming off two straight blowout wins and will look to add a third Sunday. The Panthers are in sole first place in the NFC South and will look to continue to separate themselves with a win against Philadelphia.
Quarterback Sam Bradford leads the Eagles offense and has struggled to stay consistent this season. Bradford has thrown for 1,561 passing yards this season but has nine interceptions to nine touchdowns this year. The Eagles quarterback threw three interceptions last week against the Giants, but the Eagles defense held the Giants offense to just seven points.
The Eagles defense is seventh in the NFL in terms of points given up per game. Head coach Chip Kelly is holding opposing offenses to just 18.3 points per game and will look to contain the Panthers offense. Kelly will look to get DeMarco Murray carries early in this game, as the new Eagles running back seems to be figuring out this offense.
Murray has rushed for 195 yards in the past two games and has scored a touchdown in each of them. The Eagles have one of the best running back combinations in the NFL behind Murray, Ryan Mathews, and Darren Sproles. The Eagles offense will face their toughest test yet this season, as Carolina has the seventh best defense in the NFL in terms of yards given up per game.
While Carolina's defense may be the strength of this team, quarterback Cam Newton has this offense running fairly smooth through their first five games. The former first pick in the 2011 NFL draft has thrown for 1,071 yard this season with eight touchdowns. Newton provides a dual threat, as he has already rushed for 225 yards and scored three rushing touchdowns this season.
Newton will look to favorite target Greg Olsen to get open against the Eagles defense on Sunday night. The Panthers tight end leads the team in both targets and receptions this season. Olsen has 374 receiving yards this season and has caught three touchdown passes.
This game looks to be a huge NFC matchup and could feature two teams that could make the postseason this year. The game starts at 8:30 p.m. Eastern time, and you can watch the live broadcast here. To listen to the Panthers' radio broadcast, click here, and for the Eagles' radio broadcast, go here.
