Adele’s ‘Hello’ Debuts At No. 1, First Song To Sell 1 Million Downloads In A Week

Adele's first single in three years, "Hello," has already broken the record for most views for a music video, but now the British singer has broken even more records!

"Hello" broke the record for most downloads in a single week as it became Adele's fourth No. 1 song. The song took the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart after being downloaded more than 1.1 million times in a single week. The song dethroned The Weeknd's hit song "The Hills," which had been sitting in the top spot for six nonconsecutive weeks, according to Billboard. The British singer and future "Saturday Night Live" musical performer also defeated Justin Bieber's new song "Sorry," the second single off his forthcoming album "Purpose," which came in at No. 2 on the Billboard charts.

The song also shattered the previous on-demand streaming record, which was held by Bieber's song "What Do You Mean?" Bieber's track was streamed more than 10 million times, and Adele doubled that number with more than 20.4 million listens.

While the song was not her first No. 1 single, it was her first to debut in the top spot. The singer has three other No. 1 songs, all from her previous album, "21": "Rolling in the Deep," "Someone Like You" and "Set Fire to the Rain."

"Hello" was also Adele's first streaming No. 1 song. It has been listened to 61.6 million times since its release.

"25," Adele's new CD, comes out Nov. 20.
