'Halo 5': $400 Million In Revenue Its First Week

Microsoft announced that "Halo 5: Guardians" earned more than $400 million in its first week on sale, making it the "biggest Halo launch" of all time. In comparison, "Halo 4," released in 2012, generated only $300 million in its first week. With the "Halo 5" revenue, Microsoft's entire "Halo" franchise has earned more than $5 billion, according to CNet.

No specific unit sales number was provided, but the $400 million is said to include sales of games and hardware.

The game is also said to be the fastest-selling Xbox One exclusive game to date, resulting in more than 21 million hours of gameplay, 12 million of which came from the campaign mode, according to Business Insider.

"The success of 'Halo 5: Guardians' is a testament to the innovative work from the entire team at 343 Industries to bring this installment to Xbox One and the incredible community of fans who have come to love the story, characters and gameplay central to the franchise. The game represents all the possibilities of Xbox One and has earned its place as the anchor title in the greatest holiday games lineup in Xbox history," said Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, according to Inquisitr.
