A $159 million mansion is up for sale again in Hillsboro Fla., with additions to the already extravagant piece of real estate. Le Palais Royal is modeled after France's famed Château de Versailles, an exquisite palace just outside of Paris.
But this palace, Le Palais Royal, is located in Florida along the beach, roughly 12 miles north of Fort Lauderdale. The 60,000 square foot, 11-bedroom mansion is currently owned by Robert Pereira, a construction magnate, who had originally planned to live in the palace, but has since changed his mind.
Le Palais Royal sits on 4.4 acres with a private beach, only accessible by boat, his-and-hers yacht docks, an IMAX theater, 30-car garage, six waterfalls, 3,000 bottle wine cellar and 22 carat gold leaf coating on everything from doors and balconies to fountains and fixtures, according to CBS Miami.
Pereira has added two guest houses in the phase II portion of the construction, which also includes another pool and what is being billed as an underground entertainment complex that will include a two-lane bowling alley, a go-kart track, an ice skating rink and a night club, according to the Business Insider. The new additions raised the price by $20 million this past year on the not-quite complete construction, now billed as the most expensive private residence listing in the U.S, says its real estate agent, William PD Pierce.
Property taxes on the mansion were $143,425 in 2013, according to the Inquisitr. So remember to factor that into your budget.
