Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford is reportedly expected to miss Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to NFL reporter Ian Rapoport.
Bradford could also potentially miss the Eagles' following game against the Detroit Lions as well, according to Rapoport. He was diagnosed with a separated shoulder and a concussion after taking a big hit against the Miami Dolphins in a 20-19 loss yesterday.
The Eagles will start quarterback Mark Sanchez, who will need to step up as Philadelphia is in a tight race in the NFC East. Sanchez struggled in relief for Bradford throwing for 156 yards on 23 passing attempts with an interception. The Eagles are only a half game behind the Giants in the NFC East standings, and will need Sanchez to perform better against the Buccaneers this Sunday.
The Eagles didn't only lose Bradford Sunday — running back Ryan Mathews also suffered a concussion. Running back DeMarco Murray will likely get a bulk of the carries this weekend, but struggled against the Dolphins, averaging just 2.8 yards per carry without a touchdown. Mathews will need to complete the NFL's concussion protocol before he can return to the field, and head coach Chip Kelly will look to Murray and running back Darren Sproles to step up if he can't play this weekend.
