Startup company Juvo Labs has launched a project at Indiegogo that could help users get better sleep. The technology is a fiber-optic pad that is connected to a wide array of smart-home technologies found in the bedroom to ensure uninterrupted sleep.
The "Juvo pad" is placed under the mattress, where it will monitor the user's heart rate and breathing patterns by tracking the vibrations made by the body. The device will then feed the data to a separate monitoring device that can be placed on the bedside table. Juvo can then tell the smart light bulbs, such as Lifx, to switch off and the thermostat to begin using the sleep temperature once the user falls asleep.
The technology can even tell the security system when to lock the door, according to CNET.
The Juvo sleep assistant can also dispense advice about sleep. For example, it will remind the user to take a brief nap if it noticed that he or she has been missing some restorative REM and Deep Sleep. Based on personal sleep data, the assistant can also determine if the user needs to see a doctor or if changes are needed to the user's exercise routine.
The Juvo sleep assistant technology has so many possibilities. Even the simplest alarm system is implemented in the way that it wakes the user up at the lightest part of the sleep cycle. What is even more interesting is that the user will not need to lift a finger to trigger its features, according to Juvo Labs.
The Juvo sleep pad is expected to retail for $200 but those who will support its campaign at Indiegogo will get huge discounts.
