Last night at the American Music Awards, things got steamy between Charlie Puth and Meghan Trainor as they shared a long, passionate kiss onstage after their performance of "Marvin Gaye" and "Like I'm Gonna Lose You." After the makeout session, rumors flew that the musically talented duo were an item, but both Trainor and Puth took to their social media accounts to clear everything up.
"Before it begins...we are just friends. so happy to preform with meghan tonight!! thank you for all the love everybody! :)," Puth tweeted.
"It's kissing your best friend. It's a little tricky, but she's a great kisser," Puth told Billboard backstage at the AMAs after the kiss.
Trainor posted a picture of her and Puth to Instagram as they kissed and captioned the picture, "All about dat ass grab doe @charlieputh proud of you Charlie" and included the hashtag "I'm single."
Immediately after the kiss, a speechless Luke Bryan had to accept his award for favorite male country artist, according to the Los Angeles Times. Still recovering from the Trainor-and-Puth kiss, Bryan revealed that it went on long after ABC cut the live feed.
"I'm still laughing at that Charlie and Meghan getting it on with a little smooch. It kept rolling after the commercial break," Bryan joked.
