Fox announced on Monday that Elisabeth Hasselbeck would be exiting "Fox & Friends" after just two years as a co-host in order to spend more time with her three children.
"Oftentimes, the most difficult decisions are between two great things," she said in a statement, as HNGN previously reported. "With a heart full of gratitude and the peace that God has given me, I am confident that this personal decision is the right one for our family, and we will be joining all of you watching 'Fox & Friends' each morning as we get ready for school together."
On Tuesday morning's episode of the morning news show, the 38-year-old TV personality went into a little more detail about her decision to leave the show. "I am taking a new position as CBO - chief breakfast officer - at our house with the kids, and that does mean that in about a month, I'll be leaving my FOX News family," she explained. "I'm in a season where the kids need the best of me, not the rest of me. I'm going to spend this time with my kids in the morning, start their day off right. Mornings here are certainly better with friends, mornings at home, right now at this point in our life, are better with mommy...This is a really, really hard decision, but I know it's the right one."
She then went on to thank her boss, Fox News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes, for everything he has done and for understanding that this decision is one she needs to make at this point in her life. "I have had the blessing and privilege of working for the best boss in the business, the most powerful man in the business, Mr. Roger Ailes," she added. "Who I have found out to be not just wise and so effective and the best leader I have known, but also the most kind, thoughtful and supportive boss that I could have known. He walked me through this decision making, which was not easy. And it wasn't easy because he's the best man that I've worked for. I pray that my kids, and my daughter as a working woman when it comes her time, will have the honor of working for someone like him, someone who understands a working mom's heart."
In the official statement announcing Hasselbeck's exit, Ailes explained that he understood her choice. "Elisabeth and I discussed this at length over several weeks, and while I would love for her to continue here, I respect her incredibly difficult, yet deeply personal decision," he said. "She has been a great addition to the 'Fox & Friends' franchise."
