Pet professionals dedicate a lot of time to making sure that our pets are kept clean, healthy and safe, so it only makes sense that we start giving them something extra for the services they provide. Though tipping is not really a common practice in regards to pet professionals, owners must take it upon themselves to show them adequate gratitude, according to Pets Weekly.
Since good people are hard to find, why not show them just how much you care for their services, especially this holiday season?
So how much are we supposed to tip?
Dog Groomers
Dog groomers usually get about 40 to 50 percent of the payment that you give for the service. Since they actually do precise and hard physical labor to ensure that your pet looks as great as you'd like, it only makes sense that you give them an ample amount as a tip. With the holiday season in mind, tip about 15 to 20 percent of the price you pay, according to Funky Puppy. This is especially true if your loving puppy isn't as loving when other people touch and groom them.
Pet Sitters
Good pet sitters are very hard to find. Thus, once you do find one who is genuinely concerned with the comfort and welfare of your four-legged friend, make sure that you make them feel appreciated. Keep them happy this holiday season by tipping them 10 to 20 percent of your usual rate. You can even give them a holiday bonus to make them even happier.
Pet Trainers
We all know that a well-behaved pet is priceless. If your trainer has done a great job at ensuring that your dog or cat behaves in a very appropriate way, you should give them an ample reward. For each visit, give a 10 to 20 percent tip. For the holidays, especially if your pet is under an ongoing training program, give them a tip that costs about one to two training sessions.
Dog Walkers
Just like pet sitters, good dog walkers are quite difficult to find. If your pets show excitement or joy once they see the dog walker, you should definitely give them a reward too. For each session, a 10 to 20 percent tip would be great. Just like trainers though, give them a bonus that's equal to the cost of one or two walking sessions for the holiday season.
Veterinarian
Alright, this is one professional you don't really have to tip. Doing so is like tipping your doctor, which is a little weird. However, this does not mean that you should not show them your gratitude. For the holidays, consider giving your vet a nice gift basket full of chocolate-dipped fruit, cookies or even some wine.
By following these tips, you'll be making the day of those who ensure that your pet is as great as they can be.
