TMZ recently leaked photos of Katharine McPhee kissing and holding hands with her former "Smash" director, Michael Morris, both of whom are married to other people.
Morris is married to actress Mary McCormack, and the two share three young daughters together, ages two, six and nine, while McPhee is married to 47-year-old producer Nick Cokas, though sources have told TMZ that they've been separated for six months and are currently living apart.
McPhee and Morris were caught kissing over the weekend after their lunch date at Panini Di Ambra in Hollywood on Sunday, Oct. 22, E! News reports, and in the pictures, McPhee did not appear to be wearing her wedding ring. Reps for both parties did not respond tp E! News for comment. However, a friend of McPhee was happy to clarify that the singer is not cheating on her husband.
"They've been separated for six months," the friend recently told Life & Style. "Nick continues to co-manage her music."
McPhee and Cokas first met in 2005 in L.A. during a performance of "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir" and soon began dating. They became engaged in 2007, and married in 2008 in Beverly Hills.
"I once thought that by now I'd have lots of children, but actually I'm really enjoying being able to go from point A to point B and the only worry I have is have my dogs been walked," McPhee said earlier this year. "I'm selfish right now, but that's how and where I should be. The thing is, work is the thing I love the most."
The "American Idol" runner-up has been trying to break into acting as long as she's been pursuing her singing career, and although NBC's "Smash" was cancelled after only two seasons, the star told The Hollywood Reporter a day before the announcement that she "loved every moment of it."
The singer has been working on her next album for Columbia Records, collaborating with the likes of Linda Perry, Ryan Tedder, Salaam Remi and Sia, and Cokas is still involved in the management process despite their separation.
