Food Hack Warning: Woman Following Grilled Cheese Toast Hack Viral Video Gets Dangerous Results

Suzanne Dale of Greater Manchester was intrigued by this grilled cheese toast hack she saw on Facebook and decided to do it in her kitchen. It turned out to be a mistake, as the 66-year-old almost hurt herself and damaged her property.

The video called for putting a slice of bread with cheese inside the toaster. However, the toaster itself must lay to the side so that the cheese remains properly set on the bread. When Dale did this, her toaster instantly burst into flames, according to Her. She was quick enough to throw the burning appliance out of her kitchen window and called firefighters to her house. They took 20 minutes to put the fire out.

"I just thought 'oh I'll try that'. I don't know why, I have griddles and everything to make cheese on toast. I thought it might be a faster way of making cheese on toast," she said, according to Manchester Evening News.

After the incident, Dale posted a photo of her burning toaster on her Facebook and encouraged others to share her story. She wants to warn the public of the possible dangers of the food hack. She said that the video she watched had over 2,000 shares and comments.

"If I was stupid enough to do it someone else will be," Dale said.

This could have been the video that Dale was referring to:

The Greater Manchester fire service personnel who helped Dale advised the public to "only use kitchen appliances in accordance of manufacturer's instructions," according to the Daily Mail.

Famous TV chef Jamie Oliver talked about toasting cheese and bread sideways back in January. However, when the London Fire Brigade learned of this, they corrected Oliver and warned the public that it was dangerous. The warning was posted on Twitter.
