Actor Mark Hamill reprises his Luke Skywalker role in the upcoming film "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," and he had to make some lifestyle changes in order to slim down to portray the hero in episode seven, reported the Hollywood Reporter. In the new cover story for Rolling Stone magazine, Hamill revealed he took on a new diet and exercise regimen in order to lose 50 pounds.
"Look at what I'm eating now instead of potato chips and bagels," the 64-year-old told Rolling Stone, while gesturing to a plate of fruit and vegetables. "I'm on the 'if it tastes good, don't eat it' diet."
Hamill also said he isn't fishing for compliments on his achievement because "it implies that I looked so dreadful before!"
He wasn't the only "Star Wars" star to trim down before filming the movie. His co-star Carrie Fisher, 56, said she too had to adopt a new diet and exercise routine in order to lose 35 pounds to reprise her role as Princess Leia, as previously reported by HNGN.
Rising star Daisy Ridley also revealed she had to update her own regimen in order to get and stay in shape for her role as Rey in the film. Ridley told Elle magazine that she relied on "lots of fish, legumes and spirulina shakes."
"It became my solace," she said, "because it's the only thing structured in my life right now. Training is sort of a therapy session, I guess."
