Courteney Cox and Johnny McDaid called off their engagement just before Thanksgiving after reportedly going through some counseling to try and work things out, as HNGN previously reported. The 51-year-old "Friends" actress and the 39-year-old Snow Patrol guitarist had apparently been struggling over lifestyle choices, so McDaid moved out of Cox's homes in Malibu and L.A. and flew back home to England, and it turns out, L.A. had a lot to do with the decision.
Sources close to the former couple have told TMZ that the two split because he wanted her to move back with him to the U.K., but she wasn't willing to leave L.A., and that was the deal breaker. Cox also loves being social, and since McDaid does not like publicity, this also became an issue. Since the split was civil, they are on speaking terms again and have been exchanging friendly texts, but they have not seen each other since the break up.
Other sources have told the National Enquirer said that Cox is blaming her BFF and former "Friends" co-star Jennifer Aniston for their split as things between her and McDaid really started to go downhill right after Aniston's wedding to Justin Theroux in August, according to Star Pulse. Apparently, Aniston wanted Cox to "pressure" McDaid to marry her also and when McDaid heard this, he got upset with Aniston for "meddling" and coming in between them.
The source even said that Cox would stop speaking to Aniston if McDaid took her back, which seems very strange considering Cox and Aniston have been best friends for years. Gossip Cop cleared these claims up, though, and was told that it was "absolutely ridiculous."
