‪LL Cool J‬‬: Grammys Host For Fifth Straight Year

Hip-hop veteran and actor LL Cool J is set to host the 58th Annual Grammy Awards, the Recording Academy announced in a press release. LL Cool J will preside over "Music's Biggest Night" for the fifth time from the stage at the Staples Center in Los Angeles next year.

Neil Portnow, President/CEO of the Recording Academy, welcomed LL Cool J back to his Grammy Awards hosting gig in a statement and explained why the star is a good fit as the master of ceremonies.

"His unique expertise, both as a GRAMMY-winning recording artist and accomplished actor, allows him to connect with both his musical peers and the fans at home," Portnow said in a statement, "and his dynamic personality and charismatic energy set the perfect tone for our show."

LL Cool J echoed that sentiment.

"I'm honored once again to host Music's Biggest Night as we celebrate the talented music creators of today," the two-time Grammy Award-winning artist said in a statement. "It's going to be an incredible night and I'm excited to share this experience with the world."

Nominees for the upcoming ceremony were announced earlier this month, with hip-hop artist Kendrick Lamar leading with 11 nominations, as previously reported by HNGN, followed by Taylor Swift and The Weeknd, who are both tied with seven Grammy nods. Presenters and performers have yet to be announced.

The 2016 Grammys will be broadcast live on Monday, Feb. 16 at 8 p.m. on CBS.
