Earlier this year, rumors started to go around that Caitlyn Jenner, who was still Bruce at the time, would be revealing her transition in an exclusive interview with Diane Sawyer and finally in April, the 66-year-old Olympic gold medalist sat down with the ABC journalist on "20/20" and put all the rumors and speculation to rest by telling the more than 20 million viewers that she was in fact a woman and had plans to fully transition.
Now, almost a year after the iconic tell-all interview, Jenner will be reuniting with Sawyer, officially as Caitlyn this time, for a follow-up interview to talk about all that has happened ever since that emotional day, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The two will be re-teaming sometime in 2016, but sources say it most likely will not be at the exact same time of year.
Since her transition, Caitlyn has made many public appearances and has been happily living out her life as a woman, but has not done many interviews since sitting down with Sawyer. Shortly after the interview, she did pose for Vanity Fair, where she revealed her true self for the first time with the title "Call Me Caitlyn." She also followed this up with her E! docuseries "I Am Cait," but it will be interesting to see what she has to tell Sawyer about her journey over the past year.
Sawyer recently became one of the honorees of the 2016 Alfred I DuPont-Columbia University Awards for her interview with Jenner. The judges determined that Sawyer and her team, "crafted a thoughtful, sensitive, illuminating two hour special...making the best use of a critical opportunity to disseminate nuanced, myth-busting information to change the public conversation," according to Ad Week. Because of the 20 million viewers it drew in, it became ABC's most-watched, non-sports Friday night event in more than 20 years.
