Trade talk is heating up with the NFL deadline hours away. Below are the latest updates on Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew, Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald, Raiders running back Darren McFadden and Bills safety Jairus Byrd.
ARTICLE (10/29/13): Latest Trade Rumors On Tony Gonzalez, Jared Allen, Josh Gordon & Hakeem Nicks.
Maurice Jones-Drew:
Jacksonville is "very open to moving" Jones-Drew, according to CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora. The biggest hindrance in moving the running back, however, is his age and contract: he's 28 years old and in the final year of his deal, which pays him $4.95 million this season.
A deal for Jones-Drew before the 4 p.m. trade deadline appears unlikely. No credible sources are reporting any trade talks with specific teams.
If a trade were to be struck, the Dallas Cowboys would be a logical suitor.
Larry Fitzgerald:
Fitzgerald's name has recently popped up in trade discussions, although Cardinals general manager Steve Keim on Monday denied having any conversations about dealing the veteran receiver, according to NFL.com's Gregg Rosenthal.
ESPN's Adam Schefter first reported on Sunday the possibility of Fitzgerald being moved before the trade deadline:
"A trade for Cards WR Larry Fitzgerald will be in play this off-season, in likely event a deal not completed before Tuesday's trade deadline."
Fitzgerald's contract also makes it difficult for a team to acquire him - picking him up would be a big hit on most teams' salary caps. NFL Insider Ian Rapaport and Rosenthal both believe Fitzgerald is staying in Arizona, at least for the remainder of the season.
Darren McFadden:
Like Jones-Drew, McFadden is in the final year of his contract. La Canfora reported league sources as saying on Sunday that the Raiders would be willing to part with the running back. As of now, no credible insiders are reporting any potential suitors.
Jairus Byrd:
Byrd, who received the franchise tag from the Bills in the offseason, appears discontent in Buffalo and could find a home before the deadline with a desperate team - if the team doesn't mind renting him for the season or giving him a big contract next year.
"Bills are open to trading Jairus Byrd, (though) they aren't actively shopping him," Rapoport tweeted on Monday. "(Bills) want a young player, not pick, in return."
