A tiny kitten is lucky to be alive after it was spotted by a conveyor belt operator on the Cal-Waste Recovery Systems facility in Galt, Calif. The tiny kitten, barely old enough to walk, was trying to maneuver among the trash and debris-filled conveyor belt when Tony Miranda spotted it, moments before the kitten hit the compactor, according the San Francisco's local CBS. Tony was sorting the recyclables when he spotted the teeny little tabby.
This kitten was seconds from going to the compactor, complete with spinning metal blades.
No one knows how the kitten became mixed in with the trash, said the New York Post, but it did manage to survive the dump truck ride, then a tractor pushing it along with the debris, to one of two conveyor belts to be sorted.
"It's just amazing to see a little kitty survive through all this," Miranda said, according to ABC 7. "It made my day today, definitely made my day."
After Miranda scooped up the tiny kitten, a call went out to employees about the save and a shift supervisor stepped up to take it home, naming the little survivor Murphy.
Last month the same recycling center and team successfully found a woman's missing engagement ring.
