Sonam Kapoor packs a real punch in the trailer of Ram Madhvani's "Neerja," the film based on the infamous 1986 hijacking of Pan Am Flight 73 in Karachi, Pakistan.
In the film, Kapoor plays the titular role of the heroic Neerja Bhanot, a 23-year-old model and flight attendant who was on board the ill-fated Frankfurt-bound flight when it was hijacked by Palestinian terrorists on Sept. 5, 1986, according to Firstpost.
Bhanot went down in history as an unsung hero who gave up her life to save the lives of 359 passengers on board the flight, receiving bravery awards from India, Pakistan as well as the U.S., as the trailer mentions at the start.
The "Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo" actress released the film's trailer via Twitter on Thursday. "Proud to present to you the incredible story of #Neerja!," she wrote, according to The Indian Express.
The film, which also stars Shabana Azmi, is slated to hit theaters on Feb. 19, 2016.
