Dustin Diamond: 'Saved By The Bell' Star To Begin Four-Month Prison Sentence In January

Actor Dustin Diamond, who is best known for his role as Screech in the '90s teen sitcom "Saved By The Bell," will being his four-month prison sentence in January, Reuters reported. Diamond dropped the appeal of his conviction, which stemmed from a 2014 Christmas night bar fight where he allegedly stabbed a man in Port Washington, Wis., about 30 minutes north of Milwaukee.

The 38-year-old former actor is scheduled to report to jail on Jan. 15, according to court documents obtained by Reuters. Diamond appeared in court on Wednesday with his attorney Daniel Fay to withdraw the appeal in Ozaukee County Circuit Court.

Diamond was sentenced to four months in prison and 15 months' probation in June by Judge Paul Malloy, as HNGN previously reported. He was convicted of two misdemeanor charges of carrying a concealed weapon and disorderly conduct. He was also ordered, along with his 28-year-old fiancée Amanda Schutz who was involved in the altercation, to pay $1,500 in restitution to the victim, Casey Smet.

The incident happened at the Grand Ave Saloon in Port Washington, when Smet allegedly confronted Diamond and Schutz. Diamond then allegedly pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed Smet.

"I sincerely apologize to everyone involved," Diamond said at his June sentencing, according to People. "This was the single most terrifying experience of my life ... This is all I've been able to think about for the last six months."
