A Florida man allegedly accidentally shot himself after he tried to demonstrate to a relative by way of a video call how to properly clean a handgun, authorities revealed. On Tuesday at approximately 7:30 in the evening, 43-year-old Josmel Herrera shot himself in the chest, according to the New York Daily News.
The Miami-Dade Fire Rescue immediately responded to the scene after they received reports about a shooting at a home, Miami-Dade detective Marjorie Eloi said in a press release.
Emergency personnel and paramedics then tried to care for Herrera and he was taken to the Kendall Regional Trauma Center where he later died, according to ABC Action News.
Police are unable to confirm if there was anybody else inside the home at the time when Herrera shot himself, according to CBS Miami.
No other details regarding the incident have been released to the public and the investigation is still ongoing, according to The Huffington Post.
