A Florida man opened fire inside a McDonald's in the northwestern part of Miami-Dade County Saturday after an argument with another customer. About 30 people were inside the restaurant, said witnesses. Things escalated after an older man called out Devin Gibbs, 23, yelling at him that his order was up.
"They were talking stupid to each other and he took out the gun right there and said, 'I'll kill you right now,'" said eyewitness Wilder Smith, according to the New York Daily News.
Gibbs, who is now under police custody, ended up shooting Ledea Phillip, 65, in the left arm. Phillip was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital, but denied treatment and left.
One witness commended Phillip for not caring and taking it like a "soldier" after he kept eating while clutching his bloodied arm, according to WSVN.
Police charged Gibbs with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, shooting into a building and carrying a concealed weapon.
The owner of the restaurant issued a statement, according to the Daily Mail, that said: "Our first priority is always the safety of our customers and employees. As this is an active police investigation, we ask that you contact the Miami-Dade County Police Department for additional details."
