While being under the influence of alcohol often causes people to do things they wouldn't normally, five French teens took it to another level after allegedly stealing a llama from the circus and taking the furry animal for a late night joyride on the Subway.
The Daily Dot reports that after leaving a club drunk, the five teens swiped the llama from a Bordeaux, France circus that they happened upon, the 8-year-old llama named Serge having gotten to go for a night out on the town via the Bassins à Flot tram station. The teens posted photos and videos of their late night adventure to Twitter and YouTube, including a clip of Serge tied to a lamppost after taking a Subway ride.
"[We] love animals; it walked it with us as a good dog would have done," Mathieu, one of the identified teens told France's Sud-Ouest. After a station agent stopped the train due to reports of a llama being on board, the teens were arrested at the Place de la Comédie station. They were later released, and the circus director has since filed a formal complaint. Serge the llama has also been safely returned to his circus home good as new, though a slightly more weary traveler.
Although they were caught, the French teens have become something of an Internet legend, their llama caper having spawned its own Facebook fan page, where they've received more than 700,000 likes so far. Fans even created a photoshopped Subway ticket just for Serge, and a Tumblr filled with memes created in his honor.
