Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have hung up their Golden Globe hosting duties, and Ricky Gervais has taken over. The British comedian took to his Twitter account Friday to apologize in advance for what might happen during the show.
"Because I can see the future, I'd like to [apologize] now for the things I said at next week's Golden Globes," the comedian wrote. "I was drunk & didn't give a f--k."
Gervais hosted the Golden Globes from 2010 to 2012 before Poehler and Fey took over for the next three years, as HNGN previously reported. The comedian did not hold back during his hosting duties and trash talked some major A-list stars right to their faces.
"Ricky Gervais left us with a lasting impression and we are thrilled to have him back in our show as we honor the best in film and television," said Lorenzo Soria, President of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. "His off-the-cuff wit and quirky charm will surely have the room and audiences around the world at the edge of their seats."
After Gervais' last time hosting the award ceremony in 2012, he promised that he would never return to host the show again, according to Entertainment Weekly. He held up that promise until October when his return was announced.
The 73rd Golden Globes will air on Jan. 10 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC. Check out the full list of nominees here.
