Afghanistan, which is hosting Zimbabwe for the ODI and T20I series in United Arab Emirates, clinched the five-match One Day International series by defeating the visitors in the fifth ODI on Wednesday.
Batting first, Zimbabwe made 248. The hosts chased down the target with the help of Gulbadin Naib's career best 82 run knock, according to ESPN.
"It's a phenomenal achievement to start off the year with a series win. Gulbadin has proved he's got the skill to play even in ODIs," Afghanistan skipper Asghar Stanikzai said after the 3-2 series win, according to Express Tribune.
