Footage of a snowy owl caught on a Montreal traffic camera looks like pictures and videos taken by a world class wildlife photographer. This was the shot of a lifetime, as the owl slew breathtakingly towards the camera in incredible video footage caught on Jan. 3, according to USA Today. The owl, flying over Montreal's Highway 40, started in the corner of the frame before coming straight at the camera and finally passing it.
"Here are a couple of shots of this beautiful snowy owl," Transport Minister Robert Poeti posted to his Facebook page.
"I think they are attracted specifically to the highway because it has open, grassy fields nearby which is perfect for hunting their favorite prey, which is small rodents," said Barbara Frei, director of the McGill Bird Observatory, noting that the female owl was probably looking for a spot to perch, The Telegraph reported.
"They like to get a good lay of the land and the high lamp posts or other posts that they can perch on while hunting just suits them perfectly," she added.
"They'll migrate to their 'winter vacation,' which can be all the way down to southern Canada, in the Montreal region or places in Ontario," Frei said, according to CBC.
