Kendrick Lamar debuted a brand new track called "Untitled 2" Thursday night on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon." The song is the first track that the rapper has released since Lamar released his Grammy nominated album "To Pimp a Butterfly."
This was not the first time that the Compton rapper debuted new untitled music on a late night talk show. Lamar previously unveiled a new song back in 2014 called "Untitled" on the last episode of Comedy Central's "The Colbert Report," but the song was never officially released. Nine months later, Lamar performed a medley of songs from "To Pimp a Butterfly" for Colbert's new gig at "The Late Show," according to Rolling Stone.
Lamar also sat down for an interview with Fallon to discuss "To Pimp a Butterfly" and the 11 nominations that the artist is nominated for at the upcoming Grammy Awards. The rapper told Fallon that he was happy that his album did not receive the most nominations in Grammy history. That record that is still held by Michael Jackson's "Thriller" album, which earned 13 Grammy nominations.
"I can't fathom being as great as Michael, so 11 is perfect," Lamar told Fallon. "You know, he is legendary."
The Grammy Awards will air on CBS at 8 p.m. E.T.
