One of the best parts of Wednesday night's "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" didn't even happen during the broadcast of the show. While shooting promotional video's for the night's episode with guests J.K. Simmons and Billy Joel, the two started an improvised doo-wop version of Joel's hit song "For the Longest Time" with help from Fallon and his band.
The group were all waiting to shoot the promos when Simmons suggested the particular song. After the "Whiplash" actor started things off, it was nothing but sweet harmonies between the talents on stage.
"Come on! That's the way to do it," Fallon yelled after the performance was over.
"That was so fun!" Fallon said.
During the actual broadcast of "The Tonight Show," Joel and Fallon sat down for an interview together and then sang a cover of the classic Rolling Stones hit song "Beast of Burden." The two sat at the piano together and sang the song as a duet with Fallon nailing his Mick Jagger impression. Later in the song, Fallon really felt the music and got off the piano bench and climbed on the piano to finish out the tune.
"The Tonight Show" airs at 11:35 p.m. on NBC.
