Billy Joel To Sing National Anthem At Game 3 Of World Series

Singer Billy Joel is set to perform the national anthem before Game 3 of the World Series Friday at Citi Field, his spokesperson revealed to Newsday.

The Mets, in particular, have a history with Joel, wherein they played the singer's hit "Piano Man" during in the middle of the eighth inning break during this season.

Additionally, they sometimes play Joel's other hit "Empire State of Mind" after every win in Citi Field, according to the Associated Press.

The singer sang "Meet the Mets" just last week as he was providing score updates from Game 4 of the NLCS during a concert held at Madison Square Garden.

This would not be the first time that Joel has sung the national anthem during The Mets' games in the World Series, as he performed before the start of Game 1 of the series against The Yankees at Yankees Stadium back in 2001, USA Today reported.

Singers set to sing the national anthem for Game 4 and 5 have yet to be announced.
