Cat Cafe Forced To Close Its Doors Due To Surprising Lack Of Inventory

Catfe, a popular café in Canada that offers both coffee and shelter cats for adoption, found itself in the enviable place of having to shut down the café when all of its cats were adopted. As Vancouver's first and only cat café, a trend sweeping the U.S., Vancouver offers adoptable cats from the British Columbia SPCA to give SPCA's cats greater exposure. Launching just last month, the Catfe is a huge success with its adoption model of letting people interact with a cat of their dreams in the casual homey setting of the café.

"Due to the overwhelming success of adoptions in our first few weeks, we have run out of cats!," Catfe posted on its Facebook page.

Catfe is hoping to receive a new "shipment" of adoptable cats soon, with plans to reopen its doors on Friday with eight to 12 cats available, according to The Dodo. Last check on the Catfe Facebook page shows six cats as of Sunday.

People are also being directed to the other animal shelters in the area which are not suffering from a lack of available cats.

The blog for Catfe says its aim is to have a steady stream of cats available at the café, but with the holidays, holiday hours and bad road conditions, the BC SPCA has been low on cats to send. This is very exciting news for adoptables that will be lucky enough to come to the Catfe soon and find their furr-ever homes.
